May 23, 2020: Message from the IPPOA Executive. The tennis courts are now open to IPPOA members. Please observe the following COVID19 social distancing rules when using the courts.

INDIAN POINT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PLAYING TENNIS/PICKLE BALL SAFELY

Anyone using the courts acknowledges that they have read the COVID 19 rules listed below and are using the courts at their own risk.

BEFORE YOU PLAY

Realize that the courts have not been sanitized. Arrange to play only with family members or others who live in your household or with individuals who are considered to be low risk. Do not play if any of you are exhibiting signs of the coronavirus, have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or if you are a vulnerable individual.

PREPARING TO PLAY

Protect against infections. Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap for 20 seconds or longer or use a hand sanitizer before going to the court. Clean and wipe down your racquets and water bottles (and pickle balls). Do not share racquets or other equipment. Use new balls if possible. If you need to cough or sneeze, do so into a tissue or into your upper sleeve. Arrive as close as possible to your playing time. Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can.

WHEN PLAYING

Consider using separate numbered balls for each player to serve with. Try to stay at least 6 feet apart. Do not make physical contact such as shaking hands or high fives, etc. Consider not playing doubles but if you do play doubles avoid all incidental contact. Avoid touching your face. Sanitize your hands promptly if you have touched your eyes, nose, or mouth. Avoid sharing food, drinks, or towels. Use your racquet/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. Avoid using your hands to pick up balls. Kick or use your racquet to push balls arriving accidentally from the other court. Stay on your side of the court, avoid changing ends. Remain apart from other players when taking a break.

AFTER PLAYING

Leave the court as soon as possible. Use a hand sanitizer after leaving the courts. No congregation after playing.

BASED UPON TENNIS CANADA GUIDELINES

April 2020: Message from the President

Unfortunately we have to postpone our AGM until later in the year. Additionally, while the current health situation is in place, we have secured the tennis courts as well as Molly’s Place. We are following the advice of FOCA in this regard. Hopefully the COVID19 emergency measures will soon be resolved and we can enjoy another great summer on the Point. For more details please refer to the April 18th IPPOA member communication.
